About Old Bethel UMC
Growing Community Together Through Faith, Hope, Love, and Service for All
Since 1838

Welcome to Old Bethel United Methodist Church
a place where faith has been growing, and we have been serving the far east side of Indianapolis since 1838. What began in a small log cabin just half a block from our current sanctuary has become a vibrant, welcoming community committed to making a difference.
At Old Bethel, we are Growing Community Together Through Faith, Hope, Love, and Service for All. You’ll experience passionate worship, meaningful messages that connect the Bible to everyday life, and a warm community ready to walk alongside you. Our strong commitment to service includes operating the city’s third-largest food pantry and partnering in community efforts like at Common Ground at Faith.
Old Bethel United Methodist Church is connected to other United Methodist Churches, which can be found all over the world. Our greater shared mission is to form disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in local communities and worldwide connections.
